Pima County, things to do in Tucson, Tucson

Winterhaven Festival of Lights:

Tucsonans love to head to Winterhaven for the neighborhood’s annual Festival of Lights.  The light displays always bring the spirit of the holiday season, and the event is also an annual fundraiser for the Community Food Bank. Bring a canned good to donate, or make a donation. Check their website for walk-through and drive-through nights.

End of the World Party at Club Congress:

If the end of the world is coming, you might as well end it with a party. Head to Club Congress for the End of the World Party with Burger Records featuring live music from The Resonars, Feeding People, Lenguas Largas, Lovely Bad Things, White Night, Freezing Hands, and Acorn Bcorn. It’s 21 and up, tickets are $5 in advance, and $7 at the door.

Happy Himmel Holidaze Food Truck Roundup:

Nothing like a holiday food truck feast at the park. Head to Himmel Park in midtown anytime between noon and 6 p.m. for your chance to enjoy Korean kimchi tacos or steamed mussels from new food truck Chef’s Kitchen.

Arizona, things to do in Tucson, Tucson

Here are our top picks for this cold weekend in Tucson!

Congratulations UA winter 2012 graduates! It’s commencement weekend so expect to see lots of blue gowns and blue caps walking around campus on Friday and Saturday. The main event happens Saturday morning at McKale.

Bring on the holiday light shows! Head to Zoo Lights at Tucson’s Reid Park Zoo any night this weekend for animal-themed light sculptures, falling snow, and Santa Claus. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children aged 2-14. Discount available for zoo members.

Cheer on the Arizona Wildcats football team one last time this year as they take on the Nevada Wolf Pack in the New Mexico Bowl. The game airs at 11 a.m. on ESPN. If you can’t make it to Albuquerque, we recommend catching the game at any one of these great local places. Frog & Firkin on University Blvd has televisions everywhere, an extensive beer list, and a great patio. No Anchovies next door offers a delicious thin crust pizzas, big screen TVs, and good beer. A local brewery such as Barrio Brewing Co. at Toole Ave & 16th St. will make sure your taste buds are satisfied while the Wildcats play.
